An empty leg is a flight an aircraft makes without booked passengers to reposition for another trip or return to base. It may offer a lower charter price, but the route, schedule and actual quote depend on the operator.
Why empty legs exist
When a client books a one-way trip, the aircraft often has to return to base or move to its next pickup. That repositioning flight is the empty leg.
The trade-offs
The route and time are set by the original trip, so you need flexible plans.
If the original booking changes or cancels, the empty leg can change or disappear. Have a backup plan for trips that can't move.
How to book
Share the routes and flexible dates you would consider. Ask an advisor to check current operator-confirmed options. Enquiring does not subscribe you to automatic alerts or guarantee a matching flight.
Before you commit
Ask for the operating carrier, departure airport, permitted passenger and baggage load, and the full written price. Confirm which charges are included rather than assuming a discount covers everything.
Read the cancellation and refund terms, ask what happens if the underlying trip changes, and arrange return travel separately unless it is explicitly included. If your arrival deadline cannot move, compare an on-demand charter quote as well.
General planning guidance, not a quote or program agreement. Excelsior Jets sources aircraft from operators; the selected carrier confirms aircraft suitability and operational details. Written booking or ownership terms govern your arrangement.
